WHAT'S IN A NAME?
WHY BUTTERFLY EFFECT?
Edward Lorenz was a mathematician and metorologist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology who loved the study of weather. In 1961, Lorenz was re-examining a sequence of data from a numerical computer model designed to run a weather prediction. The data from the second run should have exactly matched the data from the first run. As a shortcut, he entered the number .506 instead of .506127, assuming any difference would be inconsequential.
Instead, the result was a dramatically different weather scenario. One tiny alteration had utterly transformed his long-term forcast. Lorenz presented his findings in a 1972 paper, "Predictability: Does the Flap of a Butterfly's Wings in Brazil Set Off a Tornado in Texas?", and the term, The Butterfly Effect, was born.
Here at Butterfly Effect Day Spa, we believe in the power of small changes. Something as small as treating yourself to gorgeous lashes just might change your life in a big way.
